Character Relations

LaCroix meets Fleur when the Vampire family pays Nick´s mortal family a last visit. LaCroix gives into his new child´s wish to see his family for one last time before they move on. They travel too long and can reach the De Brabant Castle just in time when the sun comes up. LaCroix gets hurt though and wears a huge wound on his face. Nick is welcomed warmly by his mother and little sister, Fleur. He manages to persuade his mother to let them rest over the night and doesn´t tell his family about his “new condition”, his life as a vampire. Just when the Vampire family wants to leave for their rooms, LaCroix´ lack of strength gets the better of him and he collapses, right into Fleur´s arms.
Their first glance at each other shows the special bond between them and they meet on the castle´s roof every night to watch the stars and discover their common interests and shared feelings about life. The Vampire´s visit of DeBrabant Castle is cut short and Fleur gets sad about the prospect of Nick and LaCroix leaving her again soon. Just before LaCroix wants to bring Fleur over to take her with them, he is stopped by Nick, who doesn´t want his own sister turned into a dark creature. Her loss of innocence would destroy her, he explains to his Vampire master. LaCroix can´t bear the fact that he has to leave his beloved Fleur, but respects Nick´s wish and watches as Nick hypnotizes his sister, so she´d forget about her love for LaCroix and the existence of Vampires.
LaCroix wants a bargain and tells Nick that he would destoy Nick´s love as well, should he ever truly love a mortal. Nick agrees…

LaCroix observes Nick how he kissed Natalie in a passionate way and seeks revenge for leaving his Fleur so many centuries ago. He sends Natalie some flowers and a card for Valentine´s day and invites her to dinner. Natalie assumes that she´s invited by Nick, but when she encounters LaCroix in the restaurant, she´s dumbstruck. Lacroix introduces himself and works his charms on Natalie, who can´t resist as well as she usually does on hypnotic influence. The whole scene at the “Azure” is very fascinating and the tension between LaCroix and Natalie reaches it´s highlight when Natalie admits under hypnosis, that she´s fascinated by Vampires and LaCroix almost bites her. Just in time Nick interrupts the scene and starts a fight with LaCroix. He pretends to not love Natalie and saves her life with the lie.
The scenery becomes very tensed and interesting, as soon as LaCroix crosses Natalie´s path. It doesn´t happen very often, but they´ve become memorable moments.

Janette was saved from the abuse and horrors that follow prostitution when LaCroix brings her over. She´s his daugther and loyal companion for many centuries and admires his presence and wisdom until she moves on and away from Nick to find herself again. (End of Season 2, Season 3 Eps. 1) LaCroix admires the sheer beauty and good taste of his daughter and together they travel through time and from place to place.

The “Family”. When LaCroix turns Nick into a vampire for Janette, the family is complete. Together they hunt, kill and enjoy unlife. Until Nick´s conscience gets the better of him and he starts to stand up against his master and refuses to ever again take a mortal´s life.

LaCroix and Nick share the classy Father-Son- or Childe-Master- Relationship. LaCroix holds a powerful hand over the son he had brought across and made immortal so many centuries ago. He´s not only a father to Nick, but a teacher, brother and master as well. In some FanFictions he´s even a lover. The third season makes clear that there is a deeper bond between the father and the child than just hatred or blood. In “Last Knight” Nick calls LaCroix his “closest friend”.

Unconventional Couples in FanFiction

A weird pairing, but with reason. In “Close Call” (Season2) LaCroix had Schanke under his spell, when Don had visited the Nightcrawler for a few answers to his questions, concerning Nick´s “special state”. Schanke was suspicious about Nick possibly being a Vampire. He had collected the facts, rummaged through various literature on Vampires and - suffering from insomnia - seeked evidence by molesting Nat at first, then even Janette at the “Raven” and finally, finding his way to LaCroix. A heavy dosis of vampiric hypnosis brought Don back to “his senses” and he forgot all about his suspicions…

This Threesome is a rather challenging and interesting one. We know the scenes between Nat and LaCroix, accidentally meeting each other, while Nick watches in bewilderment. Those are full with tension and danger. We also know the Episode “A more permanent hell”, where Nat wishes for Nick to bring her across to preserve her from certain death. She also holds a secret fascination for the creature “Vampire” itself and when she listens to Nick explaining the effects and feelings of a feeding Vampire, her expression is excited and more than just interested. In FanFiction the authors give Natalie more than just a little fascination, but the wish to become truly immortal, so she could join the “Family”.
