Backbencher

“Backbencher” is a political radio drama about a woman from a small Nova Scotia community who runs for the NDP on a whim, and is surprised when she gets elected. The drama offers a view from the backbenches of the House of Commons; one woman’s journey through the snake pit of Canadian politics.
Eight episodes air Thursdays 11.30 a.m. and 11.05 p.m. on CBC Radio One through May 27. The series was produced at CBC Halifax by Peggy Hemsworth. Further information is available here.
Nigel Bennett appears as NDP Leader Charlie Dunn in episodes 4, 5 and 8.
